TU Looks To Refocus, Bounce Back On Homecoming After Disappointing Loss

After a disappointing loss to Houston in the conference opener, TU looks to bounce back for homecoming.

The Golden Hurricane will work to clean things up before hosting Memphis Saturday night at 8 p.m.

Head coach Philip Montgomery said even with the loss, he has confidence that his team can turn things around.

"We have a good football team that is taking really positive steps,” Montgomery said. “We took a step backwards the other night and we have to refocus and understand there is still a lot of football and we got to get prepared and get ready and go play at an elite level because that’s what our conference is."

Montgomery said Tuesday there were several players battling a stomach bug prior to their game against Houston, but that isn’t an excuse. He said putting that loss in the rearview mirror is what’s important.

"We had a bunch of guys that had to miss practice because of illness and trying to get back from an energy level was difficult,” Montgomery said. “We all need to be better this week and so when we hit that practice field, we are going to be detail-oriented about what we do."
